It's important that every adult in New Zealand has a will. It’s a legal document that outlines what you would like to happen to your assets and possessions after you’ve passed away.


Even if you think your situation is fairly straightforward, you still need a will. Why? Unfortunately, if you pass away without a will, the law sets out how your assets are divided and what you loved ones receive. Without your clear instructions set out in a will, what actually happens may not be what you would have wanted, or expected.
